Uncertainty visualization: Fundamentals and recent developments

Abstract This paper provides a brief overview of uncertainty visualization along with some fundamental considerations on propagation and modeling. Starting from the pipeline, we discuss how different stages this pipeline can be affected by they deal propagate information to subsequent processing steps. We illustrate recent advances in field number examples wide range applications: hierarchical data, multivariate time series, stochastic partial differential equations, data linguistic annotation.
